Bicycle Epistles [From BA 43-100]
The other day we came outside to unlock our bike when we found this anonymously- written and simple note affixed to it: “I bet the sun will make these handlebars warm, and when it does, the warmth will soften your hands and remind you that you are alive and probably loved.” There really should be some sort of national note leaving campaign whereby we vow to put a note on someone else’s bike every once in a while. We’ll call them bicycling epistles. Along with our extra tubes and screwdrivers, then, we’ll always carry a pencil and lots of sheets of loose-leaf paper.
“To you and your bicycle,” we can write, “from me and mine. We hope you are as well as ever!” The world will run alight with the words we’ve left for other people that we might not ever, ever know.
