Review: The Competition Bicycle: A Photographic History, by Jan Heine [From BA 42-300]
For the daily commuter, The Competition Bicycle: A Photographic History is not only a thoroughly gorgeous book, but a testament to what extremes others have used the bicycle, and the distances they've gone, to get where they are going—and fast.
The eye-popping collection is complete with a beautiful chart of bicycle geometries from over the decades, and the stories Heine provides about how bikes were used recreationally and practically before they were competition machines (speedy courier service in France, for example) are downright excellent.
